Alexandra Rosario Conde (Gallagher), known to many as Sandy and lovingly as MeMa and Titi Shasha, was born on April 20, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey — a place she always considered home.
Sandy was well known, and for good reason. She was an exceptional waitress and bartender — truly the best of the best. She had a gift for remembering everyone, a sharp sense of humor, and a presence you didn’t forget once you met her. She was funny and didn’t play games. Stubborn to her core in the way only strong women are, Sandy stood her ground and stood up for others just as fiercely.
Sandy had passions that reflected her bold spirit: a love for gory horror movies, Stephen King novels, and jewelry that made a statement — just like she did. She lived life fully, on her own terms, with strength and authenticity.
She shared her life with her lifelong partner, Frederick Godesky.
She was predeceased by her daughter Christina Rosa, and her brothers Robert, Hector, Arthur, and Angel.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa Godesky-Rodriguez, her husband Louis Rico Rodriguez, and her siblings Ruth, Henry, and Dominick, and many nieces and nephews: Elizabeth, Odette, Johnnie, Nisa, Kole, Draven, Josie, Kayla, Mackenzie, Adonis Hector, Mark, Vinny, John, Philip, and Angel, and is reunited in peace with Nivia and Curtis, who preceded her in death and, her cherished grandson Dantae Rodriguez, who brought her immense pride and joy.
