Linda Marlene Mayo, 64, passed away on October 17, 2014 in Livingston, NJ.
Born Linda Marlene Moody in Savannah, GA on October 6, 1950, Linda was a lifelong resident of Essex County, where she attended Rutgers University and made her home in East Orange.
A long-time employee of the State of New Jersey, Linda retired in 2009 and became an avid and accomplished bowler, while also developing a love for travel. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, known among family and friends for her spirit of grace and true Christian love. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in East Orange, where she loved serving in ministry and enjoying fellowship with her church family.
Linda was predeceased by her mother, Fannie Marie Taylor, and her daughter, Akima Teresa Mayo. She is survived by daughter Erin Jaime Mayo of East Orange; grandchildren Jevonnah Chante Mayo and Javon Jason Mayo; great-grandchildren Taylor Mayo and Kaila Mayo; sisters Celeste Young of Fords, Carla Bastos of Albuquerque, NM, Tanya Parker of Edison and brother James Taylor of Highland Park; aunt Mary Sheffield; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members; and her beloved canine companion Toussaint.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 24 at New Hope Baptist Church, 144 Norman Street, East Orange, following a private family viewing.
